Lions Club of North Tahoe
The mission of the Lions Club is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.
Program & Activities
The Lions help those in need get sight screenings, glasses or corrective surgeries. School nurses in Incline Village, Kings Beach, Tahoe City and Truckee let them know if a child needs help getting visual or auditory needs met.
Several area businesses are collecting used eye glasses and hearing aids so they can be recycled: Village Ace Hardware, Rainbow Printing, Bowl Incline, Raley's pharmacy area, Village Market, Dr. Jonathan Smith's office, and Village Pharmacy.
The local Lions club also is contributing toward a diabetes awareness program, and funds local scholarships. In addition, the club supports the North Tahoe Boys & Girls Club, Camp Dat-So-La-Lee, Tahoe Women's Services and Kids & Horses Therapeutic Riding School.
The North Tahoe Lions meet the first and third Tuesdays of each month for a luncheon meeting from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Tahoe Biltmore in Crystal Bay. Each meeting features a speaker.
The club is part of Lions Clubs International, which has a membership of more than 1.4 million in 40,000 clubs serving 180 nations. Lions invites both men and women to become members.
